ELS OPSOMER Els Opsomer lives and works in Brussels, Belgium and Rufisque, Senegal. A video artist, photographer and graphic designer, her constantly expanding archive of urban images, together with textual commentary, is a reinterpretation of our globalized reality, exposing and challenging the notion of personal integrity within it. She was a resident at the Rijksakademie Amsterdam (1996-1998), and has received the awards Courtisane (2007) and the Jeune Peinture Belge (1997). She is author of artist books Time Suspended (2004), Be my guest ... forever (2005), and Wrapped (2000) and co-founder of Mondophrenetic™ (multi-media installation). Her artwork is part of E-flux video archive and has been featured in magazines such as Parachute (CA), SiteMagazine (D), CameraAustria (AU), AS (B). Her work is shown at the 1st Brussels Biennial, Belgium (2008), 7th Gwangju biennial, Korea (2008), 10th Istanbul Biennial, Istanbul, Turkey (2007).
